Dear Grandma:
I have a big favour to ask. My good friend Katriona has been stranded at school over the Christmas holidays by her parents. Katriona's parents are flying to South America to see a mine site or some such thing.
Please can Katriona come and stay with us at Christmas? She is quiet and kind.
I am looking forward to the Christmas pudding. Is there snow on the Old Man yet? Can we climb the path in Wainwright's book this time and not through the old mine workings?
Dick may not be able to bring his rocket as it was confiscated by Duffy, his old headmaster.
