We know two adopted little girls from South China, both sets of parents are sailing friends, but I can't help much on the lactose intolerance front, because one little girl, although adopted from a Guangdong orphanage, must surely have had a mother and probably a father who came from Inner Mongolia, to judge by her size and appearance, and is not lactose intolerant (the Mongols, like the Tibetans, put milk in their tea..) The other little girl is definitely from Guangdong, but her adoptive mother is from the New Territories of Hong Kong via Liverpool so she's growing up on a familiar diet anyway!
