A well argued post John, but are we talking a matter of translation? The old English you quoted (which I now recognise taking me back to linguistics lectures!)expressed the same meaning, whereas AR is using words descriptively - not to give offence. I hate to keep returning to this point but I feel it is valid, the author's intention is the key to this whole discussion.
