I'm delighted to find TARboard! Like most of you I loved AR's work
when I was a child & still do. When re-reading them to my kids I too
noticed a change in my attitudes to the characters. My feelings about
Susan haven't changed though. I think she is great. Coming as I do
from a somewhat chaotic background I found her reassuring ; something
of a sea anchor. I always thought that without her the group would
fly apart.The point about native interference is also good. With Susan
around the natives would give them much more leeway for adventures.
My wife agrees with this assesment. Of course her name is Susan too.
Hmmm. maybe a pattern here...
