So neither the Swallows or Amazons are too worried about the danger of going in through the hazardous rocks, even at night.
The Amazons didn't know about John's lights. They were supposed to be John's secret weapon. However, the Amazon Pirates (or at least Captain Nancy) would never let such a little thing as hazarous rocks at night worry them.
