Don't you think perhaps it's time to tighten up the entry requirements to Tarboard?

Oh dear Jock, that sounds very like the beginnings of censorship.

But no Peter, if we came up with the right criteria only nice people could post, Tarboard would be sweetness and light and Ian would be able to leave it to run itself for months at a time without having to open his knapsack.

I propose that we submit to our esteemed moderator/webmaster/editor [delete as appropriate] the proposal that everyone should pass an psychometric test before being allowed to post on Tarboard. In fact I have been working on this proposal for some time and here are some draft questions.

1) Swallowdale is in 1931, but Swallows and Amazons is in 1929. Discuss.

2) Why did the Amazons capsize Amazon?

3) The S&A series has no relevance to the 21st C. Do you agree?

4) 'Mousing your sisterhooks', explore the use of nautical jargon by AR.

5) The S&A series - 'mostly harmless' or 'dangerously subversive'?

6) The late pigeon effect is an example of Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle. Do you agree?

Now that would sort out the wheat from the chaff!
