The "extract paste" that ISTR is mentioned in the 12 is "Bovril". Same colour as Vegemite, but made from meat (I think) rather than the lees of beer brewing. BTW Vegemite in its natural state is a nasty beige colour and has no salt. Both the colour and the salt are added. Such goodness as it has (mainly as a source of B group vitamins) comes from the tired yeast that is scraped from the brewing vats. You now understand why Vegemite is an Australian product.
