Three cheers have been around in Britain for a very long time. And about 50 years ago, E M Forster wrote a book called Two Cheers for Democracy. It was immediately obvious what he meant.
In fact an article in my newspaper today gives two cheers for a decision to conduct an enquiry into the power of supermarkets.
