Firstly having a bath. I think it was common in those days to only have a bath once a week, in some areas a lot less frequently.
B.O. was something of a problem but as everyone was in the same boat as it were, it was not noticed.
As to nature calls, I always even as a kid wondered how they managed, there was never a mention of a spade or shovel in the stores lists.
Also did the houseboat have a Head and if so did it discharge into the lake. Maybe all and sundry nipped over to Dixons or other convenient farm privy.
As to Swimming what sort of temp would the lake water be at, as I remember England even in a really rare hot summer the water was not exactly toasty.
Of course the whole thing is fiction and neither the houses or characters existed in reality so we can invent what we like.
