the study of the old starts after those that know the simple answers from experience are dead

The study of the old things and places starts after those whom know the simple answers from experience are dead.

Subject = The study of the old things and places
Verb = starts
Object = after those whom know the simple answers from experience are dead

I think this is as clear as I can make it.

We call them archeologists, archeologists are now digging up garbage tips from 20 years ago to see what people threw out.

Example of old things in the future:
I know what an Ipod is because I am alive now. In 50 years if the word Ipod is included in an old story, then, someone who is only 10 years old in 50 years time, maynot know what it is.
