What are "buttered eggs" (the description makes them sound like
scrambled eggs; without milk,(or am I the only person in the
world who adds milk?)* I do do; my wife adds water. We're incompatible really...)

There is a long and glorious thread in 'lapsed messages' on the topic of eggs. It starts with Japanese boiled eggs and meanders through scrambled, buttered and potted, passing through Gulliver's travels on the way. You'll find it at http://www.lancs.ac.uk/people/esarie/tars/oldmsgs/562.htm

However, it is inconclusive on buttered eggs v scrambled ... Peter, did you ever cook both and contemplate them?

What is "digging presents out of bran pie"? (Is that like a lucky
dip in a "Bran Tub"?
Yes - a bran tub or similar.

What is "a box of Force for breakfast"? (Cornflakes?Porridge?)
Visit the old thread at http://www.lancs.ac.uk/people/esarie/tars/oldmsgs/593.htm for the answer, a jungle and suprising news...

regards
William (Hard working, and should become successful...the two don't seem to go together though!)
