Taking up the challenge, I have been spending my spare moments writing The Chalet Girls' Nursery Rhyme Book for the next New Chalet Club Journal (briefly, the Chalet School books by Elinor Brent-Dyer form the longest series of girls' school stories and are set in Austria, Guernsey, Britain and Switzerland). Having finished that I am now considering Songs Mrs Walker Could Have Sung to Bridget and Mrs Dudgeon Could Have Sung to Our Baby (but didn't):
If ifs and ands were pots and pans
There's be more work for Susan's hands.
Swallows and Amazons come out to play
The Moon doth shine as bright as day
Leave your beds and leave your sleep
And join your shipmates on the deep.
Come with a war whoop and come with a call
Come on your skates - Roger! Try not to fall!
Dick on his ice yacht will sail with great power -
But he'll fall through the ice in half an hour.
