Here's something from AR's text for the Beckfoot analysers to get their teeth into. In Ch. V of 'Pigeon Post' Dick asks if he can use 'the electric bell there is in the stable under the pigeon-loft . . .and the wires that go across the yard'.

What was that bell originally used for? Obviously the horse(s) could hear it, but what then?
