Hmm. Isn't the truth really that Cdr Walker was perfect only in the eyes of his children? And that to others, eg the officers and ratings under his command, he might have had a less perfect reputation? We perhaps get a glimpse of this at the start of 'We Didn't Mean'. I think AR allows us to see that it is his family that worships Cdr Walker, while secretly AR and ourselves know that he might just be an ordinary bloke warts and all.
