Ambivalent is what I feel.
The sense of being cheated came out somewhat balanced by relief that these two fantstical tales (in comparison to the "at home" ones) were not intended to be taken as real adventures by these characters. When I finally read (where did I read it?) the suggestion that Peter Duck was a story they all made up together during Winter Holiday, things fell into place for me.
