Not certain that she didn't have Rattletrap. She might merely have been dubious about taking an elderly rag-top around the lake in probably icy conditions, and opted for a more comfortable ride in a fully-enclosed vehicle with someone else driving. Given that in PP there was a reference to her banging one of the fenders again in warm and dry conditions, such a decision wouldn't be at all surprising. For that matter, CF might have put Rattletrap up for the winter before he left just to keep her from driving in icy conditions.
