Heheheh. I stopped Reader's Digest by simply entering their dumb contests but never subscribing. They gave up when they realised I was slightly literate and couldn't be tricked into signing by filling in pages of gobbledegook. Never won anything of course! They're not dumb either.
The other trick is a string of abusive letters ending in 'contact my lawyer'...although that one might be overused nowdays. Verbally it does wonders to itinerant missionaries and charity phonecallers at dinnertime.
And in case I might be mistaken as a hard hearted bi...witch, I collect and donate for 'Greyhounds for Pets' and always buy a ticket for local primary school raffles.
