There are several Great Northern Divers aka Common Loons in my marina, and surrounding waters. www.semiahmoomarina.com at 48* 59.3'N 122* 46.2'W. They often come within eight feet of the MARGOLETTA. The seagulls like to try to steal their fish prior to the GNDs being able to swallow it.

Yesterday though was quite a sight! The length of the marina's docks is some 500' and it is about 50' between the ends of each slips fingers. Two GNDs were coming up the open area swimmng fast and flapping their wings for all they were worth. They went right past the MARGO's stern, one a bit in front of the other. It looked as if they were being chased by some unknown enemy. But, they continued on toward the main dock, the one in the lead increasng its lead all the time. Just before they reached the main dock, they turned 180*, and came rushing back, all the way to the end of the dock, where they turned hard to port and disappeared.

Maybe the female was chasing the male, or they have some unknown enemy besides Mr. Jemmerling. It was quite a site!
