Bulleid had his own version chain driven valve gear. Jarvis's rebuilds introduced the Walshaerts valve gear, I seem to remember. This is probabably strays to far off track for Tarboard.
Rail enthusiasts are far more sensitive than Tarboarders. We must remember that the Garden of Eden was in Swindon and even the serpent was mid chrome green with a copper head.
