Did any other AR fans also read books in two other series involving children and boats - Aubrey de Selincourt's series of books which began with "Family Afloat" and Gilbert Hackforth-Jones "Green Sailors" (which started out as a serial on "Children's Hour" on the BBC Home Service)?

If anyone has, there seems to be quite a scope for "comparing and contrasting" the series.

Besides sailing there are some common threads and plot devices in the books from the three authors.
The Green Sailors series dates from the 1950s so the author may have been influenced by S&A. de Selincourt's books were, I think, first published in the 1930 and would be contemporary with the early S&A books so it is interesting to speculate who came up with certain plot devices first. My copies of Family Afloat and the rest are in my parent's attic so I can't compare publication dates to see who influenced whom.

Would anyone like to pick up this thread?
