I had originally thought the request to post photos meant that someone shared my enthusiasm about the Dog's Home.

Absolutely!

Surely this would be where I'd find people who could understand excitement about a string?

I/many of us do.

It was bad enough to find it assumed I meant to provide ammunition for another round of bickering.

Certainly not. It's just that Tarboard posts assume a life of their own. Having never seen the DH, it was natural that I hoped you might share your photos with us. You did. They are absolutely wonderful.

Having looked at your photos, it was also natural that I would compare them with AR's drawings. (I'm that sort of bloke.)

Having compared them, I noticed several important differences.

Having noticed the differences it was only natural that I would wish to share them with fellow Tarboarders.

If a discussion about roof trusses upsets your sense of wonder, I apologise. To me studying Ransome is a bit like studying Shakespeare. However much you study the sources, background people and places and work of earlier authors, the amazing achievement and sense of wonder remains.

Some people study words, others study roof trusses. Both have a place (and I hope will be made to feel welcome!) on Tarboard.
