Hi Lyn - I have no problems with your query. Except, perhaps, giving you a satisfactory answer! Vicki Slowe is a founder member of the Arthur Ransome Society, and I have spoken to her several times before. Yes, there was much talk of AR, but also much Lake District gossip, and I did not make a written note of any of it! As spent the whole weekend 'talking AR' with others, I hope you'll forgive me for not remembering exactly what Vicki said.
I could not mention the matters referred to in Iain's post because at the time I had not read it. I wouldn't have mentioned them anyway, to be honest. I personally think that all this historical stuff, who said what to whom, should be forgotten, and we should move on to the future. There are too many old 'agendas' around, as I think you may have just discovered. Don't worry - keep posting!
