Kate Crosby asked if AdeS is still alive. Sadly I think he is not.
I have just aquired a copy of the Penguin Classics Herodatus translated by AdeS (first published in 1954). A brief biography at the beginning states that AdeS "translator and scholar" was born in 1896, educated at Rugby (another AR link) and Oxford. "A schoolmaster of genius" he retired to the Isle of Wight in 1947 and died in 1962.
