Not quite sure what Prue is getting at, but I fear the worst. BTW, 'Victorian Governesses' should not be derided: they were in the main comparatively well-educated but very poorly paid. They were typically drawn from the lower-middle class, the 'clerk' class, and to get a good 'situation' was all they could hope for. They may have said 'Pish' and 'Tosh' but it was far more likely that their employers would use those terms, I reckon.
