As we seem to have got too far away from AR, I have eel-mailed you privately. Assuming you are thinking of Talyllyn (the lake), as far as I know it has never been possible to sail there - private ownership and too shallow waters. The boats on the lake are owned by the hotel and used for fishing (which does bring an AR link back into the message, I suppose). Indeed, there is a bookshop not very far away in Machynlleth called Coch y Bondhu (spelling ?) which specialises in hunting, shooting, fishing type books, and I always think of AR and Scarab when I pass it.
