But there was certainly one instance of a Victorian lady Alpinist (Iforget the exact reference but it is mentioned in 'Climbing Days' by Dorothy Pilley) going back up to the top of a major peak which she had just descended to retrieve the skirt which she had to put on over her climbing breeches before it would be proper for her to enter a Swiss mountain village.
