When I was learning to sail, my father always used "Hard alee" (honesty compels me to add - when he used anything at all; we were supposed to be aware of what he was doing). The gybing equivalent was "gybe-oh . . . gybe". One other example of "ropes" on shipboard (not, I think, in anything Ransome's crews sailed on though) would be footropes.
