AR was a remarkably well-read man, and admired the Romantic poets (Coleridge, Southey & Wordsworth etc.) in general. Peter Hunt's Approaching Arthur Ransome gives striking evidence of the direct influence of WW on AR by comparing a passage in Swallowdale ('the real sea' seen from the summit of Kanchenjunga) with one in Wordsworth's Prelude..
