Please be assured that many young girls in the USA did *not* find Anne Shirley boring in the least. Back when I first discovered her (almost 50 years ago) it was difficult to find anything but the first book in a library. Now all of the series have been reprinted, even in paperback, and additional titles like those mentioned by Prue are also widely available.

However, I noticed no similarities between her and Nancy/Ruth Blackett.
