My first was Peter Duck which I found in the school library at the age of eight. I sneaked it out and read it without permission. Perhaps that is why I still enjoy it more than most people seem to do. It seemed quite realistic back then.
Only a couple of years later did I read the others. The only one I actually owned for a long time was Swallowdale which is probably why it is still my favourite.
