I was lucky that at the age of 8, I had a godmother who started me off with SA for my birthday and PD for the following Christmas. Then I was given an old copy of WH which was printed a month after I was born.

I still enjoy rereading PD, which flows as well as any of the other books, but perhaps with adult eyes is less believable than it once was.

All these books have been "improved" by my children and originally myself. In particular the "age of stickers" when my children were small has led to the SA unexplored forests being inhabited by Muppets (as I have said before) and there are so many ships in the Atlantic - including Captain Nemo and Nautilus - that there is hardly any room for Wild Cat to reach Crab Island!!
I did learn and thereafter bought Puffin versions for my children until they had grown out of the sticker age.

I have now recovered and repaired these books so they should last as long as I do. I have bought new hardbacks for my grandson.
