Ahoy, TARS!

Due to a recent, unrelenting onslaught of migraine, I looked for some
pleasant, distracting juvenile fiction. I was fortunate, in that I
discovered _Swallows & Amazons_. It isn't as well-known here in the
States as it is in Australia, Canada, and the UK. In fact, the local
library (Columbus, Ohio -- not a small town at all) only has 4 or 5
of the books available.

My husband found the AR Literary Pages for me, I e-mailed Tim Johns,
and he kindly invited me to contribute to TarBoard. I've been having
fun reading the archived posts.

Thus far, I have read S&A, SD, SW, PD, PP, am about 1/4 through CC,
and I am looking forward to reading the rest of the series. What
wonderful books! The children are real -- grubby, energetic,
occasionally thoughtless, and thoroughly likeable. The adults fall
into two categories -- those who still have one foot in childhood, and
those who don't. We know which group the GA and the Hullabaloos fall
into. Given such characters, how could anyone resist this series?

Question(s): Who else who posts to TarBoard lives in the U.S.?
Is there a Stateside branch of TARS? Do I need to prick my finger
and offer a drop of blood to join, or will cold cash do?

Thank you for adding to my enjoyment of such enjoyable books!
