I've been thinking. AR focused on the Lakes and the Broads. He probably never came down here to Hardy's Wessex - in Dorset. So he never experienced the sheer joy of Poole Harbour, Brownsea Island (site of Baden-Powell's first camp for the Scouts - and still a camping base), Studland Bay (haunt of Pirates - true) and Wareham. Let alone the Dorset countryside. There's so much more to mention.

Could we create a 'centre' here for young people to enjoy S & A activities? There's a static caravan park with an associated sailing school. We might well bludge camping time / space on Brownsea. The Royal Marines have a base here for their Special Boat Service and could well accept young people for a day visit. There could be camping around here or in the New Forest. We could set up games / challenges / w.h.y. to delight many young people. But it will take some time to fix it (so not this year) and it will need to build over time. I'm sure we could get the Poole Tourist Office to buy into the idea.

It's new, it's fresh. it's different - I know it's not AR country - but the young people would love it if we pulled it off.

Should we try?
