Another fella who stumbled upon them as an adult here. I'm 43 now, and a few years ago, I stumbled across Swallows & Amazons. No one I know had heard of them or read them.

After the first chapter I was so very charmed by the characters and writing style. After the first book, I hit eBay and ABE books to find
the others in the series.

I'm somewhat slowly acquiring and reading them. Well, some would say slow, I would say savoring. It's been two years now, and I've read the following books (in this order)

Swallows & Amazons
Peter Duck
Swallowdale
Winter Holiday
Coot Club
Pigeon Post

My next will be 'We didn't mean to go to Sea' which is sitting on the shelf. I'll need to get a copy of 'Secret Water' soon.

I've tried sharing these with my 9 & 10 year old daughters, but with limited success.

I've been searching out the hardbacks with slipcovers (not expensive ones in fine shape, I like to find library discards when I can). My collection of books includes Lippincott, Jr. Literary Guild, and two types of J. Cape's (the cover art is different). Nevertheless, they look nice, snuggled together there on the shelf, waiting for me to open the next volume ...
