From WH, Chapter 25:
------------
Nancy wasted no time. Her knapsack, too, was ready for next
day. She charged into the larder. A cake seemed the handiest thing
in the way of food. She pushed it into her knapsack. She grabbed
her skates. She scrawled on a bit of paper, "They're at the North
Pole. So am I. Tell Uncle Jim. Nancy," and left it for her mother.
------------
Nancy had just recognized the flashing Morse Code sent by the D's from the North Pole, and quickly headed out into the night with her knapsack.

This knapsack already had some stuff in it, as she had prepared to come to the Council the next day at the FRAM, yet she still managed somehow to stuff in that cake.

When she did get to the North Pole and found the D's there, the cake was brought out and greatly enjoyed by all.

I have wondered - what shape was that cake in, having been "pushed" into a knapsack already with other items in it? And perhaps even a worse idea, what condition was the inside of that knapsack in after having a cake STUFFED into it. Let us hope it did not have icing, or somebody would have to lick the inside of that knapsack. Sounds like a job for Roger, if it came to that. That cake must have been crushed into crumbs. But Nancy was not one to worry about such details.
