Pam - if you want to see sculling in action and like English films, there is one called 'Hope & Glory' in which a young lad is taught how to scull on a river by his irascible grandfather during WW2. Brilliant film and the best bits are superlative (especially the fish in the weir episode and the finale after his horrible school is bombed).
