Or a thread on here suggesting alternate beginnings to the books which resulted in their being no more than a paragraph. ISTR someone posited SA where the telegram said, essentially "Are you daft? Letting them go off sailing alone, and having fires? certainly not!" Some of the choicer alternates made it into Mixed Moss, IIRC.
