To have a microwave Captain Flint would have needed a battery or batteries. To charge them, the houseboat would have had to be mobile. Somehow I can't see it steaming all over the lake.
Or he would have had a small and nearly silent diesel generator. Dick, I suspect would have prefered the stirling engine approach.
