Totally a joke!

Fair enough. Maybe we should all try and get along with each other's various senses of humour, whether 'dry', 'colonial', 'friendly insult'or (one of my own specialities) self-deprecating. The latter is peculiarly British and my own comedy hero was always Tony Hancock - a genius. I fear that Prue has not always understood my attempts at 'Hancockian' humour. Maybe it's the way I tell 'em.

But, to be serious, Prue - you may have landed yourself in more complications with your mention of Anglo-Saxon types born in the UK. Who the hell are they? I have no idea whether I fall into that category - I was born in the UK, but my father's family came from Ireland. My mother's family are English, but I haven't a clue what their origins are. This sort of confusion, plus the fairly massive immigration into the UK in recent years, means that a pedigree 'Anglo-Saxon' origin must now be extremely rare. We are all citizens of the World now, and I personally think [note those words, Kathy] that words like 'colonial' and 'Anglo-Saxon' should be binned, but I am not going to get all serious about it.
