I noticed that last I visited (2002)Lots of very palatable brews,I especially enjoyed those based on Belgian wheat-beers . When I visited in 1979 even San Fransisco was a desert. There I experienced the delights of Olympia drunk out of a waxed paper cup; I would say it was undrinkable but I probably forced it down me.
The story of CAMRA and the saving of real beer in England is well known but no-one has ever been able to give me a coherent history of the rise of the American micro-brewery.
