Re the casting of Nancy (Kit Seymour) in the 1974 film, I have a small snippet in the recesses of my mind that once the rushes of the film were viewed it was felt that Nancy's voice was not right, perhaps too "common", and that a substitute voice was overdubbed - by a boy! Can anyone confirm or deny this information, I've heard it from more than one source.

Re the "retarded" Roger (Stephen Grendon) I do know that the child actors' scripts were not learnt parrot fashion but were improvised - the director went through each scene with the children, then the filming went ahead with the children speaking the "gist" of the lines as they remembered or reacted. I believe that Stephen Grendon was just not mature enough to be able to do this successfully compared with the others, who were much older.
