Thanks to all correspondents. What I really wanted to know is was the Juliet Renny credited with the maps in the 1974 Jonathan Cape Swallows and Amazons (the jacket bears the words "Illustrated by the author with the help of Miss Nancy Blackett") a real person? If nobody knows, could anyone suggest a line of enquiry? My letters are coming from Australia. I was in the Lake District for two days last northern summer, but all I achieved in the Swallows/Amazons area was a climb of Coniston Old Man and a visit to Brantwood.
