I have never found PL insurance to be a problem. For one of my other hobbies, exhibiting and running live steam engine toys at Museums and Rallies, the premium is £15 for £2,000,000 cover. Because I run at low pressures no boiler test is required either.
Probably what I do is potentially more dangerous that marching in a parade.
