In fact, I found that plumbing thread extremely interesting. I have a good friend who was posted at Lakenheath for a number of years in the early '80s & lived in Mildenhall. Neither of us could work out why the hot water system wasn't pressurized except by gravity. He went to great pains to try to pressurize it, but to to avail.
Now we know.
