I always understood that Lanehead was the model for Beckfoot.

I don't think that it's been exploded as much as it's never taken
a very firm hold. The current Signals has (have?) an article
about Dick's crag (the one that held the fast sheep) that mentions
two other contenders.

[If only I could get hold of a photo or drawing of the west side of
Lanehead before the building was extended.]
