A number of years ago I submitted The Chemistry of Pigeon Post to MM and never received any acknowledgement. I don't know whether the editor ever saw it or decided that it wasn't suitable, however, a new generation of editors have been happy to accept it and it will be in the next issue. In the mean time it sat on the Literary Pages.
