Although we had to send send a leter from boarding school each week, content was unsupervised.
My father told me they were brief, one line saying that I was OK but starving. The second line was an appeal for more pocket money.
My father, quite rightly, responded to neither.
Perhaps if I had more literary skills, I would have done better with my appeals.
At least the school had two sets of AR books, one in the library and the other in the sanatorium library.
