There is a downloadable program called Sketchup which allows you to draw fairly advanced buildings with shadows and textures (brick, stucco, tiles, etc.) I understand theat the buildings you create can be placed in the Google Earth high altitude photos, allowing you to "populate" your part of the world with local houses, offices, etc. in the same way that selected American cities are populated. The download allows you eight hours to play around with it, then you are urged to buy it. It looks pretty good to me, but the kicker is the price: $US495. Way out of my league.
