Something that puzzles me is why Susan had to blue her birthday money on a mincing machine to improve the pemmican (in Pigeon Post).
My experience of tinned (canned) corn beef is that it crumbles very easily and can be mashed up with a fork.
Was tinned corned beef in the 1930s more robust?
