Timing (and destination) is everything. We left Toronto the evening before the big panic (so no unusual problems) and went to Ireland where they didn't worry too much about what we carried on to the plane for the return trip.
On the other hand back in 2001, my attempt to attend the Literary weekend was kiboshed because I planned to fly out on September 12.
